Introduction
For the first time in Rhode Island, residents will directly decide how to improve health in our communities, by sharing ideas, developing projects, and voting on what to fund. Residents are in the driver's seat to deciding how to invest in our health.
We know that there is a lot that goes into having healthy communities, everything from adequate transportation to employment opportunities to clean, safe, and affordable housing to parks and open space to access to fresh, healthy food and clean water to a high-quality education system to safe streets and much more.
The process, called Participatory Budgeting (PB), will happen in the Pawtucket-Central Falls and Central Providence Health Equity Zones (HEZ), from September 2023 and through June 2023.
